1. Home brewing kit

In these tough economic times, it’s important to have a steady supply of beer at the ready. This gift combines a fun hobby with frugal living, by allowing you brew your very own beer at home. For the novice, the best starting place is the one of the quick-start home-brewing kits. These kits contains everything you need to get up and running. For anyone who has considered making the leap to home brewing, this is the ideal gift. They can be drinking their own freshly brewed beer within weeks of receiving this kit.

Here are two of the most popular kits on the market:

MR.BEER Premium Beer Kit Brewing System
MR.BEER Premium Beer Kit Brewing System The Beer Machine – Personal Mini-Micro Brewery

2. Wear their beer on their sleeve

Let your beer drinking friend show the world how passionate they are about beer with a t-shirt or cap that will make them stand out from the crowd. Of course, there are lots of options here, depending on your beer drinker’s style and preference. Here are a few starter ideas to consider:

Men’s beer tee shirt

Budweiser pajamas

Beer numbs pain tee shirt

Guinness hat with bottle opener in the bill

3. Beer of the Month Club membership

What could be better than a gift that keeps on giving? Membership to a beer-of-the-month club is such a gift.

Every month, the beer club sends a fresh batch of select beers along with tasting notes to the recipient. Imagine the delight on your beer drinker’s face each month as they carefully open their new shipment of beer. This gift is a great way to sample new and interesting beers, with the added element of surprise.

Here are two of the beer clubs that offer membership:

Craft beer of the Month Club

The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club

4. Books on beer

For an avid beer drinker, one of the next best things besides actually drinking beer is reading about beer and brewing. We’ve picked out some of the best books for you to choose from:

Ultimate Beer: Michael Jackson The Brewmaster’s Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer with Real Food: Garrett Oliver 300 Beers to Try Before You Die!: Roger Protz
How to Brew: Everything You Need To Know To Brew Beer Right The First Time: John J Palmer Red, White, and Brew: An American Beer Odyssey: Brian Yaeger Brewing Up a Business: Adventures in Entrepreneurship from the Founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery: Sam Calagione

5. Beer magazine subscription

Let your beer drinking friend keep up with the latest developments in the brewing world, find out about new beers and learn about tasting and beer matching with a year-long subscription to one of these fine magazines…

6. Home beer tap

This is perhaps the ultimate accessory for the home beer enthusiast. A home beer tap offers fresh bar-poured beer at a moment’s notice. Ideal for entertaining or simply enjoying after a long day at the office, this gift would be welcome at any beer drinker’s home.

This gift can be done the cheap way or the expensive way – you decide:)

7. Fake beer belly

Assuming of course, your beer drinking friend doesn’t have a real beer belly, then why not give them a novelty fake beer belly?

Oversize foam belly

8. Good quality beer drinking vessels

Let’s face it; the easiest way to spoil a perfectly fine beer is to pour it into a disposable plastic cup or an ugly glass tumbler. Beer not only looks better, but tastes better when served in a specially designed glass.

Here are some of the indispensible glass sets we recommend:

Libby Munich 7-piece beer set Guinness label pint glasses Footed Pilsner Beer Glasses
No self-respecting beer drink drinker’s cupboard should be without a classic set of beer glasses and pitcher. This set can handle your special home brew or lend some class to that cheap party beer in your fridge. The only way to drink Guinness is from an authentic tulip pint glass. Anything else just isn’t Irish… Attractive, sturdy glasses that are the perfect container for enjoying draft beer.

9. Beer art

Posters, clocks, weird beer cap creations – there is a huge array of beer-related art and décor merchandise available. Naturally, most of it is awful, but there are a couple of good quality art of and decoration pieces that would be welcomed into most beer drinker’s dens

10. Beer

Didn’t see that one coming, did you? When all else fails, a beer drinker will still look you in the eye and be eternally grateful for a gift of a six-pack of beer. If you want to give the gift of beer but retain a touch or originality, why not opt for a gift basket of beer or a selection of craft beers?

That concludes our gift guide. Have you got any great gift ideas that we missed? If so, leave a comment with the details so we can help improve the gift-receiving chances of all those beer drinkers out there.

Please, don’t buy Mr. Beer. http://www.morebeer.com has plenty of homebrewing kits that will make a much better beer and not be a complete waste of time.

If you’re like my husband and have the vast majority of the stuff on the list, then get a gift certificate to their favorite brew or beer store. In tough economic times, it’s nice to know that you can pick up some specialty beers or brew up a nice batch.
